19-year-old Norwich woman in critical condition after accident
SMITHVILLE – A 19-year-old Norwich woman is in critical condition following a two-vehicle automobile accident in the Town of Smithville Monday morning.
Chenango County Sheriff's report that Breanna Christian, 19, of Norwich was transported to UHS Wilson Hospital in Johnson City following the accident where she remains seriously injured.
According to the Sheriff's report, at approximately 6:45 a.m. on Monday morning, Christian was travelling northbound on King Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign at County Road 3.
A 2005 Mack dump truck operated by Brad Sparling, 47, of Walton, struck Christian's vehicle, a 2013 Hyundai. The dump truck subsequently overturned, spilling its load before both vehicles came to rest west of the intersection.
Both Christian and Sparling were transported to UHS Wilson Hospital following the accident where Christian remains in critical condition and Sparling was treated for minor injury.
Genegantslet Hose Company and the Greene Fire Department assisted the Sheriff's Office at the scene, and the Chenango County Highway Department assisted in the cleanup of County Road 3.
As of Tuesday morning, UHS Wilson Hospital reports that Christian is still in critical condition.
