City seeks FEMA money to offset costs of record-breaking snowstorm

NORWICH – The Norwich City Council is taking initiative to recoup some of the financial losses caused by the record-setting March snowstorm that overwhelmed much of the northeast.


Council members are looking to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for help. According to Norwich Emergency Management Officer A. Jones, the city is among scores of municipalities eligible for federal reimbursement to offset costs of the storm.


The city spent an estimated $80,000 on cleanup efforts, which includes snow removal and overtime labor expenses for road crews.
