NY gives voter info to Trump's fraud commission
CHENANGO COUNTY – Stressing that it won’t comply with original requests to turn over sensitive personal data, the NYS Board of Elections is giving publically available information to the President’s Election Commission.
The move subjects all Chenango County’s 28,440 registered voters to President Donald Trump’s inquiry of widespread voter fraud.
The President’s Election Commission initially sought voter info, including criminal history and Social Security numbers, which was rejected by both Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the State Board of Elections based on legal merit.
Nevertheless, a revised request under the Freedom of Information Law seeking publically
available information – without Social Security numbers, criminal history, or other sensitive personal data – has been granted.
Such requests are often granted to journalists, candidates, and other members of the public.
In a statement, the governor defended the decision, saying his administration will continue to deny requests for sensitive personal data.
“We will never provide private voter information to anyone,” he said, “especially a politically-motivated organization seeking to perpetuate the myth of voter fraud.”
