Unadilla Valley golf drops opening match to Delhi
EDMESTON – The Unadilla Valley Storm fought to a seven stroke loss on Wednesday, August 23 – losing to Delhi by a final score of 292 to 285.
With the regular season now in full swing for some of Chenango County’s gold teams, it will be Red Pines golf course, a 36 par course, that the UV Storm will call home for the 2017 season.
Despite dropping the match as a team, UV would have two solid outings – with Andrew Jackson and Brandon Kneale, each shooting in the 40’s.
Unadilla Valley’s medalist for the day was Andrew Jackson at 45. Following Jackson was Kneale at 48, Gavin Church at 61, Jacob Figger at 69 and Anthony Weller at 69.
Delhi earned the team win and the top medalist spot – having Miles Philion shoot just two over par at 38. Ben Arehart followed suite with a solid outing at 44, followed by Sean Carron at 60, Corey Zuick at 73, and Gavin Little at 70.
“We have got to learn how to play better golf, and fight our way out of tough shots,” said Unadilla Valley head coach Carl Convis.
Next up for Unadilla Valley Golf (0-1 overall), they will head to Harpursville later on this evening, Thursday, August 24, to matchup against the Hornets at Belden Hill.
