Bobcats rip into Norwich soccer for early season non-league win
BAINBRIDGE – The Norwich Purple Tornado and the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats have kicked off their respective 2017 season’s in two different ways.
For Norwich, they traveled over the hill to play B-G in a non-league matchup on Saturday, August 26. Norwich fell to theBobcats by a final score of 1-0.
Falling to 0-1, Norwich nearly matched the sam save count as B-G, as Tornado Keeper Corey Woodard snagged five in the loss.
The Bobcats used Ryan Porter, as he claimed an unassisted goal of his own to put the bobcats up 1-0 at halftime.
“Both teams had chances in the second half, Sweeper Colin Perlie took control for the Bobcat Defense along with Goalie, Zach Graham, who got his first shutout of the season to make sure the Tornado’s couldn’t equalize on their chances,” said Bainbridge Guilford head coach Travis White.
In the win, B-G and Norwich each saw seven shots on goal, with the Bobcats lone strike coming at 27:07. Norwich attempted five second half shots – compared to B-G’s just three.
Next up, Bainbridge-Guilford (1-0 overall) plays Unadilla Valley in a league game in New Berlin at 4:30 p.m. On Tuesday, August 29.
