Saturdays in the Park vendors series: Chobani
NORWICH – After Chobani participated as a vendor in last year's Saturday in the Park: Harvest Series on October 1, 2016, Chobani community engagement manager Cassie Treen says they realized the new market is everything Chobani stands for.
"We attended one Saturday and absolutely loved it," said Treen. "We loved seeing everyone out in the community being able to shop locally, being able to purchase fresh fruits and veggies, and other homemade items. So we decided to partner with the market and put our name on it."
A year later, the market is now dubbed Saturdays in the Park with Chobani.
"We are so happy to welcome Chobani as our sponsor this year," said Mindy Chawgo, Saturdays in the Park event coordinator. "Not only have they sponsored the Saturdays in the Park, but they will be joining us as one of our vendors."
Treen says Chobani's goal will be to give away a different product at each of the six Saturdays in the Park from September 16 through October 21––for free.
"At Chobani, we believe in better food for more people, and that's exactly what we feel Saturdays in the Park is," said Treen. "It's a great place for the community to be able to shop right here in their own town, and be able to purchase healthy, fresh products."
Chawgo was quick to express thanks for Chobani's participation.
"[Chobani] continues to do great things in this community," said Chawgo. "They're committed to making the streets of Norwich and our surrounding communities healthy and active. We are so lucky to have the Chobani family and their ethics as part of our Saturday in the Park family."
Saturdays in the Park with Chobani will run every Saturday morning from September 16 to October 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Norwich’s West Park. The fall market will feature even more vendors than last year, and you can read about a vendor every week in The Evening Sun.
