Storm takes win over Blackhawks by one stroke; wins fourth straight

OXFORD – On Oxford’s home course, Unadilla Valley played villain to the Blackhawks taking the win with a final score of 263-264 in their match on Tuesday, September 5.
Unadilla Valley (4-3) has won their fourth consecutive match with the victory Tuesday evening. Leading the way for the Storm was Junior Andrew Jackson recording a 42 for the match-low. Teammate Sam Loeffler finished just four strokes behind with a 46. Brandon Kneale, who has been shooting usually in the 40’s, still helped his team to a win with a respect able 52.
The Storm’s Drew Emrich and Jacob Figger finished the top-five score card with a 55 and 68.
For Oxford (1-3), Senior Jake Marrone brought home top honors with his team-low 43 followed by Junior Jason Davis. Davis finished with a 47 for the afternoon. Blackhawks Garrett Depew recorded a 54 for his score card while Zach Ford and Liam O’Brien finished Oxford’s top-five each having a 58 and 62 for the match.
“We lost by one stroke for the second time this season,” said Oxford’s Head Coach Lance Thorne.
Oxford will eye a win in their next match at Greene on Thursday, September 7 at 3:45 p.m. while UV will head to Bainbridge-Guilford to take on the Bobcats the same day. Tee-time for the Storm and Bobcats is at 4:30 p.m.
