Sherburne-Earlville field hockey gets started with big OT win

SHERBURNE – With a tied score at 1-1, the ladies of the Sherburne-Earlville varsity field hockey team were treated to some stellar play resulting in an overtime win at 2-1 over Mount Markham – rather than an all too familiar feeling of a tough loss.

The star of the game proved to be Rebecca Turner, who shot her shot for what was the eventual winning goal in the home and season-opener for the lady Marauders.

S-E was able to grab the lead early with a goal in the first half – coming from Nicole Turner. Following their 1-0 lead, it was Emily McClare of Mt. Markham who drew the game to a tie with her equalizing goal in the second half.

S-E has been adamant about improving their offense, a goal which has shined through with their 10 shots on gaol and nine penalty corners. Mt. Markham managed just one shot on goal and seven penalty corners.
