Oxford take win from Afton-Harpursville by one stroke

OXFORD – For the third time this season, Oxford (2-4) has been separated by their opponent for one stroke. Finally, they were on the good side, overcoming Afton-Harpursville (4-4) 256-257.

Oxford was led by Garrett Depew. Depew, who had struggled in the last few matches while recovering from a hand injury, recorded a solid 43 on the par 34 front nine at Bluestone. Teammate Jason Davis was close behind with a 46 on the scorecard.

Eighth-grader Liam O’Brien put together his lowest recorded score of the season with a 58 for the Blackhawks. “Liam shot his lowest round of the season and keeps improving every match,” said head coach Lance Thorne.
