Unatego Spartans blank Harpursville-Afton Warhawks
UNATEGO – Afton’s soccer program is searching for that ever-elusive win in 2017 – falling victim to their latest opponent in Unatego at 9-0.
The Spartan’s smashed the ranks of the Warhawks with shots on goal – sending 32 shots toward the Afton net.
Nine of those 32 shots found the net, as Unatego used their four corners to their advantage as well.
At the half Unatego led in the game by a massive score of 7-0. Not only did Afton get blanked on the scoreboard – letting in two additional goals in the second half – the Warhawks were blanked on the shots and corners, having none.
Chris Noyes played in goal for Afton, having eight saves – while Riley Livermore saw playing time as well for Afton, having six saves. Noah Blake and Jason Jessup each played in the net for Unatego – neither were required to make any saves.
Scoring for the Spartans (4-1 overall); Zach Carey with three goals, Jason Jessup with two goals, Cody Smith with one goal and one assist, Callum Scott with one goal and one assist, and Tyler Birdsall and Noah Blake with a goal apiece.
Derek Kleeshulte and Zach Craft managed two assists each, while Austin Faulkner, Derek Murphy and Josh Treffeisen each had one assist in the win.
Next up for Afton soccer, they will be on the road once again, this time playing on Monday, September 18, when they play the Marauders of Sherburne-Earlville at 4:30 p.m.
