Senator Akshar to visit Bainbridge; unveil new Salt Shed

BAINBRIDGE – On Friday at 11 a.m., Senator Fred Akshar will join Town of Bainbridge Supervisor Dolores Nabinger and local leaders to officially open the Bainbridge Salt Shed.

The $100,000 project will now provide protection from weather and erosion for winter road salt, allowing highway maintenance crews to plow and salt roads more efficiently in the winter months. Previously, road salt had to be stored on the bare ground and covered only by a tarp.

Sen. Akshar will also help introduce Bainbridge Free Library & Town Hall Theatre's presentation of Jack and the Beanstalk performed by the Tri Cities Opera, an opera specially tailored for kids.

The summer program and performances are sponsored by Sen. Akshar's BOOKS reading program. Akshar recently announced an extra $150k in library books and program funding for 24 libraries across the 52nd District, including the Bainbridge Free Library.
