Norwich kicks to second and third place finishes against strong Chenango Valley team
CHENANGO VALLEY – With Chenango Valley swimming to first and second place finishes in most events, Norwich struggled getting points during their meet on Friday, September 15. Chenango Valley grabbed the win 102-65 over the visiting Purple Tornado.
Norwich’s 200 yard Medley Relay team did finish second. Kaitlyn Blaisure swam the first leg off the event and pulling away to a slight lead but CV’s Lindsey Rice kicked into another gear, giving her team the small lead. CV would hold onto the lead for the rest of the race, only allowing Norwich to take second. Maya Blaisure, Margie Winter and Melissa Stroh along with Kaitlyn split a total time of 2:03.26.
Emerson Burton took three points to add to her teams overall point total as she finished third in the 200 yard Freestyle. Winter followed her in the next event, the 100 yard Butterfly. Only she finished second with a time of 1:08.34.
Stroh, making her 2017 season swimming debut against the Warriors sprinted her way third place points in the 100 yard Freestyle.
The Lady Tornado did take home second, third and fourth place finishes in the 500 yard Freestyle event as Burton, Haley Shattuck and Emma Blenis all touched the timing wall in succession.
Norwich swims next against the local Sherburne-Earlville Marauders, Tuesday, September 19. Meet will start at 5:30 p.m.
