How 'bout them apples? 31st annual Greene AppleFest slated for this Saturday

GREENE – The 31st annual Greene AppleFest will take place this Saturday, September 23 at the Ball Flats, where wholesome family fun can be found for all.
Thanks to event organizers the First United Methodist Church of Greene, the Greene AppleFest will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. this year, offering a little something for everybody.
What started in October of 1987 as an opportunity for local organizations and non-profits to volunteer their time and energy in a fundraiser to raise profits for their respective organizations has since become a community staple every September in Greene.
A number of food options will be available, including – you guessed it – apples in many forms, not to mention other fan favorites like chicken spiedies, philly cheese steaks, hot dogs, hamburgers, barbeque chicken, salt potatoes, mozzarella sticks, and more.
Six different musical acts will perform during the fest, including Hailey Wiggins at 10 a.m., Fabulous Moonlighters at 11 a.m., Lindsey Branigan at 12:30 p.m., Phil Jenecki and band at 1:15 p.m., the First United Methodist Church of Greene Choir at 2:15 p.m., and Rylee Lum at 3 p.m.
The 31st Greene AppleFest is made possible by the First United Methodist Church of Greene, Eastern Light Masonic Lodge, Greene Lions Club, Greene Central band boosters, Boy Scouts, and the Greene American Legion.
Parking will be available throughout the town, and event organizers say there will be a shuttle bus service running every 20 minutes from the Great American grocery store to the Greene AppleFest at the Ball Flats.
