Norwich swims past Marauders in non-league meet
NORWICH — The Lady Purple Tornado mixed things up a bit, as the team swam to a win over host Sherburne-Earlville 55 to 33, Tuesday evening.
The 200 yard Medley Relay team of Melissa Stroh, Riley Revior, Margie Winter and Emma Blenis found the top podium position in the event with a time of 2:13.87. Norwich also placed second with a team made up of Ashton Wenzel Maya Blaisure, Jazmine Potter and Kaitlyn Blaisure. Kaitlin snagged a split time of 27.08 seconds, The fastest of the event. Sister Maya followed with the second fastest of 29.44.
Emerson Burton swam her way to first-place finishes in the 200 and 500 yard Freestyle races.
Ashton Wenzel brought home the top prize in the 50 yard Freestyle with a time of 28.71.
“Mixing up things made the girls chase each other,” said Norwich head coach Saundra Gantt. “We ended with some really great splits and many best times. We take that into our toughest part of the schedule as we have five meets in two weeks”
Sherburne-Earlville’s Anna Rinaldo took the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:18.28. her teammate Megan Harlost and followed suit by winning the next event which was the 100 yard breaststroke.
The 200 yard freestyle relay was grabbed by the team of Kaitlyn Blaisure, Potter, Angela Carlson, and winter. The marauders followed with a second place finish in the event with members being Kiana Marshall, Ronaldo, Megan Hailston and Rebecca Karaman.
Sherburne-Earlville will swim again Wednesday, September 20, at home versus the visiting Whitesboro for their senior night meet. The meet is slated to start at 4:30 p.m. Norwich is in the pool again Friday, September 22 against Susquehanna Valley in their home pool. Meet will begin at 5:30 p.m.
