Afton-Harpursville Golf swings past Blackhawks

HARPURSVILLE — Afton-Harpursville is now one match over .500 on the season after taking down the visiting Oxford Blackhawks 249-257.
Leading the way for Afton-Harpursville was Logan Culver, who shot a 45 on the par 36 front nine of Belden Hills golf course. His teammate Colin LaDue would finish the day with a 47.
The Blackhawks top medalist was Garrett Depew recording a 44, which was the lowest of the evening from either team. Following closely behind was Oxford’s Jacob Marrone as he finished four strokes behind Depew. Jason Davis grabbed third place in the top-five Oxford with a 49.
Oxford’s other two golfers who rounded out the top were Liam O’Brien recording a 57 and the youngster Christian Paden shot a 61.
The rest of Afton-Harpursville medalist team members were comprised of golfers Jayden Yareb (51), Cameron Smith (52) and Mike Bennett (54).
Oxford will square off against the Bulldogs of Delhi on Thursday, September 21 at 4:30 p.m. On the same day, Afton-Harpursville hosts the visiting Warriors of Sidney at 4 p.m.
