Walton Warriors squeak out win over UV Storm Boys Soccer
WALTON – The Unadilla Valley boys soccer team fell in an unfortunate battle on Monday, when the Warriors defended their land for a 1-0 win.
“The Walton Warriors played a dominant game, yet had trouble getting the ball in the net today in their 1-0 win over the UV Storm. Storm net-minder, Adam Lamont, plated a stellar game, but eventually succumbed to the relentless onslaught of 19 shots, finally letting one slip by into the net with 19 minutes remaining in the final half,” said Unadilla Valley head coach Ryan Houck.
At the half, UV and Walton stood gridlocked at 0-0 – neither team could crack the play of their goalkeepers.
With the lack of offense of the Storm – only producing three shots on goal and one corner – it was only a matter of time before Walton managed to sink one of their 19 shots.
Making the winning goal for the Warriors was Kyle Wright – taking the unassisted goal in late in the second half of play.
Walton’s goalkeeper, Kaiden Vernold, saved two shots on goal in the home win.
Next up for Unadilla Valley boys soccer, they will be traveling to play Otselic Valley on Thursday, September 21, at 5 p.m.
