S-E field hockey drops night game to move to 0-3 in league play
SAUQUOIT – The Sauquoit Valley Indians wasted no time in demanding they go home with the win on Thursday night.
The lady Marauders of Sherburne-Earlville’s field hockey team fell victim to SV, at 4-2. S-E traveled to Sauquoit on Thursday, September 21, to play a night game under the lights of their turf – however, the excitement of a night game saw S-E run away with the early score from senior Kaley Judge, when she scored just 39 seconds into the game.
Sauquoit Valley responded with a game featuring five shots on goal – with four of those finding the back of the net. For Sherburne-Earlville, they managed seven shots on goal but could only score twice.
Helping Judge in the score book was S-E’s Jessie Burato – who was assisted by Nicole Turner.
The early goal by Judge – giving S-E a 1-0 lead – was ruined when Sauquoit Valley ran their way into a four goal game. Scoring for SV was Lewandowski – assisted by LaSalle – with two goals scored by LaSalle as well. The final goal was not reported.
Next up for Sherburne-Earlville field hockey (0-3 league, 2-5 overall record), following S-E’s league loss on Thursday, the lady Marauders will return to action when they travel to play Herkimer at Oneonta State College on September 23, at 4 p.m.
