Lady Tornado blows past Sabers in the water
NORWICH – The Lady Tornado were in the pool for the third time last week when they took down the Sabers of Susquehanna Valley 109-63, Friday night.
Norwich jumped out to a very quick lead as they took all three top times in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. The top team of Kaitlyn Blaisure, Maya Blaisure, Margie Winter and Melissa Stroh posted a time of 2:01.50.
Riley Revoir swam to a third place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle. Sus Valley’s Alex Deeter took first with a time of 2:27.01.
Maya Blaisure, only being able to rest during Revior’s event, dove back into the pool to a first place time of 2:24.70 for the 200 Yard Individual Medley. The second place finisher was over 30 seconds behind.
Winter and Stroh sprinted their 1-2 finish for the Lady Tornado in the 50 Yard Freestyle, just under a second splitting their times.
The Sabers Alyssa Barrett took the first place points for diving as she scored a 87.85.
Norwich ended the meet with a first-second finish in all but one event.
K. Blaisure and Haley Shattuck were split by less than a second in the 100 Yard Butterfly. In the 100 Yard Freestyle, Winter and Ashton Wenzel finished back to back. Abigail Natoli just missed the top three by a few seconds.
M. Blaisure swam the 500 Yard Freestyle in 5:54.24 to end her night of individual events. Emerson Burton finished behind her for second, swimming great splits in the distance race of the meet.
K. Blaisure and Stroh snagged first and second points for the team total in the 100 Yard Backstroke, finishing tenths apart. Immediately following, Norwich was led by Revoir with a time of 1:24.38 in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with Wenzel and Burton swimming to second and third seconds behind.
The Norwich relay team that started it all for the meet, finished it in first place. Norwich also finished in second with the team of Angela Carlson, Shattuck, Burton and Revoir.
Norwich swims Tuesday for their fourth meet in seven days when they host the defending New York State Champion Maine-Endwell in a non-league meet. The first event of the night will start at 5:30 p.m.
