SHERBURNE – The Sherburne-Earlville Marauders hosted a flurry of Center State Conference opponents in Hamilton, Herkimer, Adirondack, and Westmoreland on Wednesday September 27.
The Marauder boys managed to split their wins against their visiting opposition with a 27-30 win over Herkimer and a 20-41 win over Westmoreland. However, S-E suffered setbacks versus Hamilton 21-37 and Adirondack swept winning 15-48 over the Marauders.
Adam Aldrich paved the way for the Marauder scoring placing ninth, and timing a 20:24 race over the 5K course. John Maltzan was the next to finish for S-E, placing 12 in a time of 20:39. A slew of Marauder harriers flew across the line with Connor Foster placing 23 in a time of 26:07, following Foster was Cooper Mottl who crossed the line with a time of 26:21 placing 24. Rounding out the Marauder scoring was Dennis Dehart who placed 25 in a time of 26:54. Acting as the displacement runners were Matthew Ryan and Riley Webster who placed 27 and 28 respectively. Ryan timed the 5K course in 28:55 and Webster paced off of Ryan for a time of 29:49.
As for the Marauder women, the sole competitor for S-E in the hot and humid temperatures on the afternoon was Emma Baker who navigated her home course for a 19-place finish. Baker recorded a time of 33:49 in the process. Due to Baker being the only S-E Marauder girl in the line-up on the afternoon, as a team Sherburne-Earlville went incomplete in team scoring.
The Marauders return to action on Wednesday October 4, when they travel to Cooperstown for a Center State Conference dual meet.
