Norwich volleyball continues to roll
NORWICH – The Blue Devils climbed out of Chenango Forks for a match with the lady Tornado volleyball squad, to which Norwich stomped Chenango Forks back with a dominating 3-0 win.
The Tornado volleyball team earned three straight wins, easily toppling the visiting Blue Devils on Thursday, September 28.
“We had exceptional digs, a lot of nice sets for our attackers,” said Norwich head coach Shelly Alger. “Norwich had 34 total kills tonight. Alexis Taylor had a terrific game tonight.”
Individual statistics for Norwich were as follows – no set scores were reported: Layla Burton had 14 digs; Marleigha Clipston had three digs; Ripley Strong had two aces, 11 assists, and two digs; Riley Strong had two aces, and six assists; Kalie Binelli had three aces, six kills, and five digs; Alexis Taylor had two aces, 15 kills, and five digs; LeahAnne Humphrey had 14 assists, two kills, one block, and one dig; Kylie Marvin had four digs; Jazmin Rodriguez had one ace, one kill, and five digs; Virginia Maiurano had four aces, one kill, and seven digs; Gabby Eddy had three aces, two assists, nine kills, and three digs; and Alexis Polcare had one assist, and dig.
“Everyone once again had the opportunity to play,” said Norwich head coach Alger of the ability to play many different rotations.
For Chenango Forks, five athletes recorded notable statistics in the loss: Lynnsey Osterhout had three kills, Katie Sherwood had two aces; Jailin Fitch had five assists; Mura Hogan had five assists; and Jordan Jones had two digs.
Chenango Forks volleyball (0-4 overall) will play next week against Chenango Valley. Norwich’s volleyball squad (3-1 division, 4-1 league), will travel to play Oneonta on Tuesday, October 3, at 6:30 p.m.
