Two schools stay in NYSSWA state rankings; two local teams in the hunt
ALBANY — This week, two local teams remain in the top of their classes in the New York State sports writer association state rankings.
In Class B, Norwich dropped from 16th to 24th following their loss to Susquehanna Valley last Saturday, September 23. They look to rebound and climb the rankings again after they face Chenango Valley Friday for their annual homecoming game, and wear pink night.
Greene Boys Soccer moves up eight spots to number five as they are a perfect 9-0 on the season for Class C. This weekend, they host the Greene Boys Varsity Soccer Tournament. Other teams participating are Sherburne-Earlville, Afton-Harpursville, and Chenango Forks.
Both Harpursville-Afton and Bainbridge-Guilford sit just outside the Class D Top 20 as honorable mention teams.
Harpursville-Afton fell out of the Top 20 after their loss to powerhouse and second ranked Sidney. The Hornets will play host to the Greene Trojans on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
The Bobcats are still trying to break into the rankings with an undefeated record of 3-0. B-G matches up against Unadilla Valley with hopes to remain perfect this Friday. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
