OXFORD – Blackhawk Jason Davis’ eagle on the par five ninth-hole, the Trojans walked off with the win at 259-276.
Davis recorded a 36 – his career low at Bluestone Friday night, shooting just two over par to lead the Blackhawks.
“Jason had an outstanding day,” said Oxford head coach Lance Thorne. “He was big off the tee and putted extremely well.”
Davis hit a monster drive and a solid chip to end up on the green as he lined up for a seven foot putt to capture his eagle at the end of the match. He also stole the honors of overall top-medalist.
Wyatt Harrison finished his evening with a 46 to take the lowest-score for the Trojans. Teammate Derek Heisler tallied a 48 on the par 34 front-nine at Bluestone to help his team to victory.
Also helping on the scorecard for Greene’s top-five golfers were Alex Sandway with a 52, Steven Milk with a 57 and Logan Pixely with a 56.
Oxford’s Garrett Depew shot a 54 despite the loss. Liam O’Brien and Christian Paden both grabbed spots in the Blackhawks top-five with a 61 and 62 respectively.
On his senior night, Zach Ford took the final spot for Oxford as he shot a 63. Unable to participate in the match due to sickness was Oxford’s other senior Jake Marrone.
Both Oxford and Greene head to the MAC Conference Championships on Tuesday, October 3. Play will start at 9 a.m. for all golfers as they take on the tough course of Chenango Valley State Park.
