HARPURSVILLE – A mismatch in seasons and the direction each team is heading, Harpursville-Afton’s volleyball team fell once again to their host Walton at 3-0.
Already at 0-4 overall for the season record, Harpursville-Afton added one additional loss on Friday, September 29.
What is rougher than being winless? Being winless and dropping an opening set by a score of 25-2 – the Hornets did this.
Miraculously, the Hornets fought to a thrilling 27-25 loss in the second set – but resorted back to old ways in the final set, losing 25-9.
Standout athletes for the Walton Warriors (7-2 overall, 4-1 league) include: Jamie Klein with 15 aces; Claire Locker with five aces and three assists; Aislynn Drumm with four kills; Lizzie DeFalco with three kills and three assists; Romancy Snider with two blocks; and Gretchen Decker with three digs.
Harpursville-Afton (0-5 overall) was just as fortunate on the individual side: Stefanie Allen had two aces, four assists and one kill; Tori Johnson had two aces and one dig; Oliviah Harris-Morris had two aces, two assists and three kills; and Madison Baker with four kills and one ace.
Next game for Harpursville-Afton volleyball is this coming Tuesday, October 3, when the team travels to New Berlin to face Unadilla Valley at 6:30 p.m.
