Parade of Lights coordinators accepting donations

NORWICH – As the beginning of October brings about cool air and frosty mornings, the 23rd annual Parade of Lights is less than nine short weeks away, and parade coordinators are getting the word out: now's a perfect time to donate to the cause.
Last year's parade had 80 participants lighting up the streets of downtown Norwich with their floats, but as the annual holiday event has grown, the costs associated with it have as well, says Parade Coordinator Mike McCormack.
"Participants have told me that it is one of the most organized and fun parades to be part of year after year," said McCormack. "None of this can be done without your support. Our very supportive community has been making cash donations to help underwrite this parade since the very beginning."
McCormack said that donations to the Parade of Lights are used to underwrite activities, toys handed out at the parade, entertainment costs, and prizes for participants.
"We are hoping that our community can help support this great event and keep it going," said McCormack. "You can make a donation of any amount, and there's a few ways you can do this."
To make a donation of any amount in support of the 2017 Parade of Lights, you can make a check payable to "The Evening Sun/Pennysaver Parade Account" and drop-off or mail the check to The Evening Sun and Pennysaver Offices at 18-20 Mechanic Street in Norwich.
You can also call the office at (607) 334-4714 to learn how to make a credit card donation.
The 23rd annual Parade of Lights will take place on Saturday, November 25.
