NORWICH – It's no secret that people feel good when they receive flowers, and if you happen to be walking down Broad street during lunchtime on October 11, you could be a lucky recipient.
The Pires team will be handing out 500 bouquets in partnership with the Society of American Florists as part of an annual feel-good campaign called Petal it Forward.
Petal it Forward is an event stemming from the idea of paying it forward. One person receives two bouquets, one as a gift, and one to pay forward to someone else. It could be a friend, relative, coworker, or a complete stranger, anyone who needs a smile.
Pires' owner Rick Williams said he and the entire team are very excited to be participating for the first time this year and is hoping to make it an annual event.
Williams states, "The message we want to get across is the importance of the power of flowers."
Petal it Forward has blossomed over the past two years into a nationwide event, boasting 262 events in 234 cities in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia in 2016, generating more than 328 million consumer acknowledgements showcasing the positive impact flowers have on emotional well-being.
