Trojan volleyball continues solid play with a win over Delhi
GREENE – Greene varsity volleyball continues to show improvement through their solid play and increased wins as of late.
On Monday, Greene hosted Delhi on their court, winning in four sets at 3-1.
While the one set the lady Trojans lost proved to be a three-point set ending at 25-22 in favor of Delhi – in sets Greene won they allowed no more than 18 points.
Greene volleyball jumped to a nice 2-0 lead with a first set win at 25-18 and a second set win at 25-12. It was then that Delhi clung to the notion of a possible comeback and edged Greene for a third set win at 25-22.
The Trojans nailed home the victory with a 25-8 statement win in the fourth set.
In the loss for Delhi, they produced game stats of: Sarah Roberts with six kills and one block; Hannah Baxter with three kills and two blocks; Elysia Shampine with 13 digs; Kendra Ackerly and Faith Savage each with three aces.
Greene’s game stats in their win were as follows: Courtney Pratt with two aces, one kill and two blocks, Chey Rich with three aces, one kill and one block; Val Straeg with three aces; Juls Ayres with one ace and one dig; Mackenzie Lawrence with three aces; Mackenzie Rios with three aces; Kira Bush with one ace; and Brook VanEtten with two aces.
Greene volleyball will be traveling to Sidney on Wednesday, October 4, at 6 p.m. to take on the Lady Warriors.
