Sew nice: 23rd annual quilt show at The Major's Inn this weekend
GILBERTSVILLE – Sisters Cece and Pat Rowe were hard at work Tuesday at The Major's Inn in Gilberstville in preparation for the 23rd annual quilt show slated for this weekend.
This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 270 quilts will be on display across two floors and in several rooms at the inn showcasing the work of some of the most talented quilters in the area.
"We have a lot of good quilters come to the show," said Cece Rowe, Executive Director of the quilt show at The Major's Inn.
Rowe said each year, the quilt show organizers ask the participants who the featured quilter should be. This year, the show's featured quilter is Elena Marin.
"She is a fantastic quilter, and [her work] is all stuff she imagines," said Rowe. "One of our quilters said she has a really good choice of color. She is not afraid to use color, and you can see that."
A room on The Major Inn's first floor is dedicated to the many colorful pieces of Marin's.
Displayed throughout the inn are many other quilts that all align with the 2017 theme: Delightful Designs.
Admission to the quilt show this weekend is a $5 donation to The Major's Inn. Lunch will also be available all three days for an additional $7.
The quilt show is organized every year by The Major's Inn Foundation, and all proceeds from the show are allocated for the restoration of the inn.
Another individual involved in setting up for the quilt show on Tuesday was friend of the Rowe sisters, Lucy Kise.
"She always has us laughing, even from the other room," said Rowe.
