NEW BERLIN – While they honored their seniors, the Unadilla Valley Storm were given another reason to celebrate – they clinched the division with the 4-0 victory over the Greene Trojans.
With a slow start, UV put senior night in the back of their mind and focused on the task at hand. Kyleigh George gave the Storm a 1-0 lead after netting one past Greene’s keeper Katie Pratt.
The 1-0 score stood as the teams went into the intermission.
Unadilla Valley came out of the half and finished the job as Jessica Smith turned the lead to two goals. George added two more in the second half to record a hat trick in the contest and give the Storm the final 4-0 score.
“I think the game tonight was a good game,” said UV Head Coach Diane Hayes. “I couldn’t be more proud of what this team has done this season. We are looking forward to the game next week.”
That game Hayes discussed in the MAC League Championship that will be held on Saturday, October 14 at 10:45 a.m at the Wright National Soccer fields. Their opponent will be Delhi as the Bulldogs won their division as well. Delhi took a 2-1 win over Unadilla Valley earlier this season.
