Athlete of the Week; Allison Beckwith, Oxford Blackhawk Volleyball
Allison Beckwith is a true scholar-athlete. She is a three sport contestant as a member of volleyball in the fall, basketball in the winter and softball in the spring sports seasons.
Beckwith has participated in volleyball for the 2017 year and has been a stand-out for the Oxford Blackhawks with a statline of 19 assists, 19 kills, eight aces and seven digs to highlight some of her better performances this season.
Beckwith’s first to performance came in the match against Sidney on September. Allison led the team with one ace, two kills and seven digs. More recent, in a game against the Storm of Unadilla Valley, Beckwith’s showing included nine assists and 14 kills.
As Allison is in her junior year, Athletic Director Tim Davis has had time to watch her abilites on and off the field. “Allison is a hard worker year round in three sports and also in the classroom,” said Davis. “She is a leader on our teams in the classroom.”
Beckwith plays with a travel softball team, the STPS Ponies out of Binghamton, all year round.
Allison was blessed with an amazing talent; she can sing. She does before most sporting events for the Blackhawks for the National Anthem. Also, her impressive gift led her to be apart of Oxford’s Drama Club, where she possesses the treasurer position on top of preforming in the school’s shows.
Beckwith also represents her junior class as the treasurer.
Outside of school, Allison is an active volunteer with the McDonough Fire Department’s spaghetti dinners and pancake breakfasts.
Beckwith has recently applied to be a member of the National Honors Society and is awating the announcement.
