Crimson Knights show no mercy, crushing the Indians on senior day

AFTON – Inviting the struggling Owego Apalachin Indians to play the seemingly invincible Afton Crimson Knights field hockey team – that is one way to thoroughly enjoy a day of celebration for Afton’s senior class.

At the half, Afton had found themselves up big at 6-0. And with a 9-0 win to cap off the senior celebrations this past Saturday, October 7, Afton will have just one final game on their 2017 regular season schedule.

To make matters worse for the Indians, Afton held their visitors to no shots on goal and no corners – a true shut out.

On the other hand, Afton amassed 36 shots on goal and 18 corners.

In the major mismatch in talent, Afton enjoyed scores from five different athletes with five also getting involved with assists. Perhaps most impressive is the double hat-trick for Afton – with Madison Baciuska and Jannelle Volk each scoring three goals a piece, and Baciuska adding in an assist.
