Athlete of the Week; Andrew Jackson, Unadilla Valley Storm Golf
The 2017 fall golf season proved to be an outstanding season as they claimed the MAC Championship earlier this month. A member of the team is junior Andrew Jackson.
Jackson, UV’s leading golfer had an amazing season, recording his career best score and his first career eagle.
During the MAC Championship match at State Park in Chenango Valley, Andrew’s score tied the leaders with an 87 but placed third when it came to tie breakers. His teammate, Brandon Kneale, placed first and Jackson couldnt have been prouder of his younger colleague.
Jackson is three sport athlete who excels in every sport but stands-out on the basketball court for Unadilla Valley as well as his AAU team the BBA Nets. Last season, Andrew received the nod from the New York State Sports Writers Association as he landed a spot on the All-State seventh-team in Class C.
Andrew is more than athlete as he performs well in the class room since he is a member of the National Honors Society. Looking at continuing his education in college, Jackson would like to still play basketball while majoring in something related to science.
But he still has a year to decide as he is only a junior.
Andrew spends a weekend in July volunteering his time to referee during the Gus Macker 3-on-3 basketball tournament this his dad John. He is also one of his sister Kaitlyn’s biggest supporters in her singing and dancing career.
Said in an article earlier this year, Jackson can’t thank his parents (John and Terri) enough as they always have put him in the right position to succeed on and off the playing surface.
