Trojans' one goal win keeps sectional title hopes alive

GREENE – The Unatego Spartans tested the Greene but the Trojans won the battle, 3-2. This time, the Trojans won the war as they grabbed the 3-2 win and ended the Spartans season.

Led by River McCumiskey, Greene grabbed the early lead, dominating the first half off the contest 3-0. McCumiskey scored two goals, one unassisted and teammate Mikey Repp finding him on the other. Repp scored on of this own as Bobby Mills found him for the goal.

The Spartans came out after the intermission ready to go as the momentum shifted into the their favor. Unatego’s Zach Carey got things started for his team scoring both in the second.

However, Greene’s keeper Kevin Gyurick didn’t allow another to pass by, shutting down the Spartans comeback attempt at two goals.

His counterpart in front of the net, Noah Blake stopped nine the contest.

Greene (16-1) moves on to the semifinal round and will host three-seed Lansing on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
