Lawrence provides ninth shut-out as the Crusader seniors lead team to four in a row

NORWICH – The Valley Heights Crusader seniors put a stamp on their final regular season game of the 2017 season as they played Corning Christian Academy at Weiler Park Friday night.
Senior Aidan Lowie led defensive effort as he and goalkeeper Johnathan Lawrence met every test to shut-out Corning for VHCA’s ninth time this season.
Crusaders’ Alex Evans, also a senior, broke the tie in a tense game when he fired a deep free kick from 25 yards out in the 40th minute. It appeared that his shot was to be going high but the ball dropped under the crossbar, freezing the Corning keeper and giving the 1-0 lead to VHCA.
Corning kept pressing in effort to try and even the score in the second half, the Crusader defense was not allowing anything past them.

In the 58th minute, VHCA Senior Jason Graham broke through the Corning defense at midfield, carried the ball down to the 18 yard line and snuck his shot past the Corning keeper to complete the 2-0 win.
The VHCA boys will host Finger Lakes on Tuesday afternoon at Weiler park for their first round playoff game.

CCA 0 0 – 0
VHCA 1 1 – 2
