Steve Natoli: Independent candidate
With general elections days away, here's one final look at the three candidates in the run for Norwich City Court Judge. City court judge is an elected position held for the last 17 years by the Hon. James Downey, who is retiring at the end of this year. The candidates are Mike Genute (R), Maureen Byrne (D), and Steve Natoli (I). The 10-year term pays a salary of $108,800. The general election will take place on Tuesday, November 7.
Steve Natoli is a local attorney running for Norwich City Court Judge.
Natoli is an Independent candidate after narrowly losing the Republican primary to Mike Genute.
Graduating from Norwich High School in 1993, Natoli went on to continue his studies at the College of Saint Rose in 1997, and then at Albany Law School.
After briefly working in the Capital District following his graduation from law school, Natoli returned to Norwich in 2006 to open a general practice law office with his wife, Lisa, and raise his family.
For the past 11 years, Natoli has operated his law office, Natoli & Natoli, LLP, practicing in the fields of criminal law, family court, civil proceedings, real estate, small estates, and municipal law.
“Norwich has always been home to me," said Natoli. "The support and friendly nature of the community was both what I wanted for my own children, as well as where I have enjoyed the majority of my personal and professional life.
"Having run a full-time general practice law firm for the past eleven years, I have been fortunate to regularly appear in Norwich City Court along with other local courts. I have represented many clients in criminal proceedings, as well as each area over which Norwich City Court presides, giving me the best and most well-rounded experience for the job.
"I encourage every member of our community to come out on election day to ensure that their voices are heard. It should not be assumed that any one candidate has a guaranteed win, because the electoral system only accurately reflects the will of the people when the people participate in the process.
"I appreciate the overwhelming support that has been expressed by members of our community, and simply ask that they use their voice in casting a vote on election day.”
