Marauders win two in a row with Lane’s runner at the buzzer

Sherburne-Earlville 40, Waterville 39
WATERVILLE – Luke Campion of Waterville made the first of two free-throws with seconds remaining to give his team the lead. Missing the second, Sherburne-Earlville pulled down the rebound and kicked it ahead to Hunter Lane.
Lane took the ball coast-to-coast, throwing up a running down the middle of the lane and scored as the horn sounded to give the Marauders a buzzer-beater win over the host Indians Friday night.
Lane lead S-E with 14 points while teammate Sylas Swingle chipped in another 10 in the Marauders win.
Sherburne-Earlville will look to win their third in a row against the host Holland Patent Tuesday for league game scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
Madison 52, Unadilla Valley 50
ROME – Down 21-6 after the first quarter, Unadilla Valley pulled together a comeback that fell just short to Madison on Saturday in the Davidson Auto Group Basketball Invitational. Andrew Jackson stole the ball and launched a half court shot that fell short at the buzzer sounded.
The Storm chipped away at the 16-point deficit a little at a time, finally getting it to within two points with just under a minute remaining.
Jackson ended the contest with a team-high 15 points and dded eight rebounds and eight assists to his stat line. Colleague Levi Rifanburg recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
The Davidson Auto Group Invitational involved teams from all over the state and served as an exposure event for the athletes . Teams included Unadilla Valley, Madison, Westmoreland, Oriskany, Binghamton, RFA, Knox (Long Island) and Bishop Grimes.
The Storm (2-3) travels to Cooperstown Tuesday for a tip scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
Oxford 58, Worcester 29
WORCESTER – Blackhawks’ Jason Davis recorded a triple-double Friday night on the road against Worcester in a 58-29 win for Oxford.
Davis finished the night with 22 points, 19 rebounds and 13 blocks as Oxford controlled the game from start to finish, only allowing the home team to score a total of 16 points in the first three quarters.
Jacob Murrer, C.J. Smith and Brad Beckwith each added six points for the Blackhawks.
Oxford heads to Deposit to face Deposit/Hancock on Thursday as they will look for two in a row.
Girls Basketball
Bainbridge-Guilford 84, Blue Ridge (PA) 23
BAINBRIDGE – The Lady Bobcats held Blue Ridge to zero points in the first quarter before going on to win 84-23 Monday night.
All of Bainbridge-Guilford’s players who saw some minutes in the contest scored at least one basket.
B-G’s Megan Palmatier came alive in the third quarter where she scored 11 of her game-high 22 points, nearly out scoring the opponent on her own.
Erica Selfridge knocked down a total of four three’s while Jill Cannistra added two from behind the arc and Abi Selfridge controlled the scoring in fourth, making four field goals.
Erica Selfridge finished with 14, Cannistra’s game total was 12 and Abi Selfridge ended the night with 16.
