Oxford Lions Club conducts Jim Podraza free Christmas dinner
OXFORD – The Oxford Lions conducted the annual Jim Podraza Free Christmas Dinner at St. Paul's Parish House in Oxford on Saturday, December 16. Over 140 home-style turkey dinners were served. Approximately sixty community members were able to brave the winter weather and attend the family-style sit down meal, where they were served by Lion volunteers. Another eighty-two meals were delivered to those unable to make it to the Parish Hall.
This Free Christmas Dinner was originated by the late Jim Podraza, an Oxford Lion, approximately 25 years ago. After Jim's passing in 2010, fellow Lion John Weidman took the reigns, and has been the driving force behind the event ever since. While the Oxford Lions supply the resources and people power needed to make this dinner a success, they would also like to thank St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Oxford for the use of their facilities.
