Lady Vikings go 1-1 in games this week
OTSELIC – In their two games this week, the Lady Vikings Otselic Valley splitting the outcomes with a win on Monday over Cincinnatus on the road before losing to Brookfield Wednesday.
In Monday’s contest, the Lady Vikings had a 20 point lead heading into the fourth quarter. That’s when head coach Nicholle Lippert changed up the game plan and tried to get everyone playing time and a bucket.
While Oteslic Valley was unable to complete their new goal, the Vikings did have some girls score their very basket.
“We have a young and inexperienced team but the more they practice and play, the more comfortable they are becoming on the court,” said Lippert after Monday’s game.
She continued by saying, “I am very proud of the way the girls played as a team against Cincinnatus.”
Amber Meigs led the way for the Lady Vikings, finishing with 28 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, six steals and three blocks. Cassie Agren and Sara Kenyon both recorded seven rebounds apeice.
Wednesday’s contest was a different outcome for OV. The Vikings was unable to score more than 21 points as a team between the four players that scored for them. Meigs was held to 11 points in the game, leading her team in the loss.
Otselic Valley only put a free-throw on the board in the fourth quarter while Brookfield scored in double-digits in every quarter.
Chalee Wratten led the offensive attack for Brookfield, scoring 17. Her teammate Emma Smith recorded a double-double in the winning effort with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Jaelyn Vleer-Elliot also finished with a double-double, adding 14 points and pulling a game-high 17 rebounds.
Argen led the Vikings in rebounding by bringing down six boards.
OV (1-3, 1-2) hosts Stockbridge Valley Thursday, December 28 for a league game that is scheduled to start at 3:15 p.m.
