Lewis' Restaurant to reopen in early 2018

SHERBURNE – Back by popular demand, a former Village of Sherburne staple will be reopening its doors later this winter.

Lewis' Restaurant will return in early 2018 at its famed lighthouse location, once again under the ownership of Rich and Cindy Lewis.

Rich Lewis said the decision to buy back the restaurant has come about recently, and the response from the community has helped propel their plans forward.

"I'm feeding off the excitement coming from the community. When we sold it four years ago, I still had gas in the tank––I didn't have a lot to do, I was idling," said Lewis.

"And when this proposition came up, I ran it by my family and they seemed to be enthusiastic, they started to become as enthusiastic as me, and I decided why not tap the throttle and see if we can use up some gas in a positive direction."

Lewis said they are currently in the process of buying back the building and applying for a liquor license, and the restaurant will officially reopen after completing those tasks. Lewis said they are shooting for a mid-winter opening and they will keep people posted on their progress on the Lewis' Restaurant Facebook page.

Lewis said the reopened restaurant will feature most of its former favorite menu items: pasta dishes, steak and seafood options, chicken dishes – including Lighthouse Chicken – sandwiches, choice appetizers, pizza, and more.

"Essentially it's going to be the same menu," said Lewis. "We're going to run with a limited menu to start to get our feet on the ground and make sure we have a firm foundation. We know we're going to be busy when we first open the doors, and we want to hit the ground running."

Also returning with the restaurant's reopening will be Lewis' former chef, bartender, and waiting staff. Once the honeymoon period is over, Lewis said he hopes to pick up right where he left off in the lighthouse.

Since the Lewis family sold the lighthouse location back in 2013, it has been home to Nina's Italian Grill and, more recently, Hops & Chops. Lewis said he hopes to give the location some direction with the re-opening of Lewis' Restaurant.

Lewis' Restaurant will be located at its former address of 93 North Main Street in Sherburne.
