Palmatier joins 1,000 point club; Lady Bobcats move into final in Kazalski Tournament

BAINBRIDGE – Bainbridge-Guilford’s Megan Palmatier started the game against Tioga on Wednesday seven points shy of 1,000 points over her Bobcat career. Scoring six in the first half, Palmatier went into the intermission with the monkey on her back.
Nailing an free-throw early in the third, the crowd roared as she became the sixth player in Bainbridge-Guilford’s girls basketball history to hit the 1,000 point milestone.
It was also in the third that the Lady Bobcats pulled away from Tioga in tight contest to start. Holding Tioga to seven points in the eight minute quarter, B-G opened the lead with 15 point quarter.
The Bobcats Abi Selfridge also started the game points shy of the landmark. 23 point to-go before the game, Abi Selfridge went on a mission in the second half. She scored 13 over the course of the final 16 minutes of play, adding to her four from the first half.
B-G closed the game out with a 20 point quarter and again held Tioga to eight, now allowing the visiting team to score double-digits in any of the four quarters.
Tioga was led by Madeleine Teribury with eight points. Abi Selfridge topped all scores with 17 points, while Kori Thornton chipped in 10. Palmatier finished her milestone game with nine and following close behind her was Erica Selfridge with eight.
Abi Selfridge will start the championship game against Deposit/Hancock with six points to go before hitting 1,000 over her career. The championship game will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday night.
