Afton man arrested for stealing $25k in farm equipment

AFTON – New York State Police announced Thursday the arrest of an Afton man who stands accused of stealing $25,000 worth of farm equipment.

Roland W. Cross, 65, of Afton was arrested on Monday, January 1 and charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the third degree, a class D felony, after allegedly stealing farm equipment from a residence in the Town of Hamden in Delaware County on December 23.

Police report the property in question to be a round baler, valued at $15,000, and a horse trailer, valued at $10,000.

Police say they recovered both the round baler and horse trailer in the Town of Afton.

Cross was issued an appearance ticket and is set to appear in the Town of Afton Court at a forthcoming date.

Police say the arrest was a result of a joint investigation conducted by members of New York State Police and the Delaware County Sheriff's Department.
