Guernsey Library to accept nonperishable donations for forgiveness of book fines
NORWICH – Many of us make resolutions this time of year. Guernsey Memorial Library wants to help you to turn over that new leaf in 2018. For the entire month of January, the library will accept donations of nonperishable pet or human food or other items in forgiveness of book fines.
You’ll start off the New Year with a clean slate and be able to take advantage of all of the library’s great services and you’ll help Roots and Wings or the Chenango SPCA at the same time.
Roots and Wings will benefit from any donated items like peanut butter, tuna, spaghetti sauce, cereal, and canned fruits and vegetables. Toiletries such as toilet paper and larger size diapers are also desperately needed by many. The Chenango SPCA will benefit from donated pet items like dog and cat food, cat litter, and cleaning products like bleach and Pine Sol.
Donated items will only pay for overdue fines -- not lost or damaged items, and items borrowed from other libraries cannot be included in the program. Only commercially prepared, nonperishable items in good condition -- no opened, crushed, or dented packages and no items past their expiration dates -- will be accepted.
For more information about Food for Fines, visit Guernsey Memorial Library in person or online at guernseymemoriallibrary.org or phone us at 607-334-4034. Learn more about Catholic Charities of Chenango County at www.ccofcc.com and the Chenango SPCA at chenangospca.org.
