First free movie night of 2018 at Oxford Memorial Library on Friday

OXFORD – Join the Oxford Memorial Library on Friday evening for its first Family Movie Night of 2018 with the showing of Despicable Me 3.

At 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 19, the library will host a free showing of the PG-movie, where, according to Imbd.com, "Gru meets his long-lost charming, cheerful, and more successful twin brother, Dru, who wants to team up with him for one last criminal heist."

The movie will be shown on the big screen and admission is free. Snacks and beverages will be available for a dollar or less, with proceeds benefiting library programs and program supplies.

Attendees are also invited to bring their own snacks and drinks to the event, free of charge.

For more information, call the Oxford Memorial Library at (607) 843-6146.

January is National Braille Literacy Month! Check out our display in the Young Adult room on Braille. We have ordered some braille books in for you to check out as well. Also, if you see any of our young Book Blazers, ask them to tell you a bit about it. They learned about it and the history of how it was created this week during Book Blazers.

Another fun fact: January is National Hobby Month too! Check out the display case and books we have out. My fellow co workers and I brought in some examples of our hobbies for you to look at. Everything from collecting Scooby Doo's, to knitting and drawing––and yes, there are some quilting samples.

If you have a hobby that you would like to work on while hanging out with some friends, why don't you come down for U.F.O. (Un-Finished Objects).

The next U.F.O. night will be January 30 at 6 p.m. Most of attendees who come are working on quilts, but you can bring anything you would like to work on. If you would like learn, this is also a great place to visit. Those who attend have a variety of talents and skills, and are always willing to share what they know.

Keep an eye on the Oxford Memorial Library and Oxford Memorial Library Youth Services Facebook pages, along with the www.oxfordmemoriallibrary.org website, to keep up to date with what is happening at the library.
