NCSD donates Reading Challenge proceeds to Books from Birth
NORWICH – Twenty-two Norwich City Middle School and High School staff joined thousands of fellow bibliophiles (that’s just a fancy word for book lovers) worldwide in participating in the 2017 Popsugar Reading Challenge.
The reading list wasn’t for the faint of heart. Some suggested topics included “a book with a month or day of the week in the title” and “a book by an author from a country you’ve never visited.”
Each participant donated a quarter for every book they read, and fifty cents for every one from the list that they didn’t read.
The group then decided to use the proceeds to support Books from Birth, a community-supported program providing monthly books mailed to Chenango County children under five, aiming to create even more local bibliophiles.
