Man accused of openly selling heroin in Norwich
NORWICH – Prosecutors are considering additional drug charges against an accused heroin dealer after they failed to reach a plea-agreement in court Monday.
Appearing in court for a pretrial hearing, Adam J. Daring has previously pleaded not guilty to third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony.
Prosecutors told the court Daring sold heroin to a confidential informant on three separate occasions, all while he was being video recorded by police.
During the hearing, Norwich Detective Reuben Roach testified he also personally witness the drug exchanges involving Daring.
Roach testified each alleged event occurred in the City of Norwich, and “out in the open,” he said.
Though Daring is currently only facing one charge, Assistant District Attorney Michael D. Ferrarese, said all three incidents may be prosecuted in the near future, leading to more charges against Daring.
Daring refused a plea offer of four years in prison for the current charge against. If the case goes to trial Daring could face up to 12 years in prison.
Chenango County Court Judge Frank Revoir Jr. said he would make evidence rulings in the case at a later date.
