Grand jury produces multiple indictments

NORWICH – A Chenango County Grand Jury met last Wednesday and indicted several individuals on felony criminal offenses, including the sale of cocaine, burglary, and grand larceny.

• Alan S. Banks II, was indicted on four offenses, each of them for third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class B felony.

According to the indictment, during the month of November 2017, Banks II sold the narcotic drug cocaine in the City of Norwich.

• Steven A. White was indicted on four offenses, each of them for third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class B felony.

According to the indictment, during the month of November 2017, White sold the cocaine in the City of Norwich.

• Coy D. Biviano was indicted on counts of fourth degree grand larceny, a class E felony, and petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.

According to the indictment, on July 18 2017, Biviano was at the Norwich Motor Lodge in Room 10 when he stole an bank debit card belonging to a female victim, and withdrew $610 from an ATM without the victim's permission.

• Kevin M. Roof was indicted on counts of second degree burglary, a class C felony, and petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.

According to the indictment, on January 27, 2017, Roof broke into a home on Davey Road. Roof is accused of stealing $210.00 from within.

• Raymond G. Whitmarsh was indicted on counts of second-degree attempted burglary, a class D felony, and petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.

According to the indictment, on October 30, 2017, Whitmarsh showed up at a home on Rexford Street around 2 p.m., after originally attempting to "push the door open with his shoulder," and then trying to "enter through a window," the indictment stated.

The indictment also reported that the defendant, Whitmarsh, remarked, “I’m going to get you” and “I’m going to kill you” while he was testing the home’s defenses. After failing to get into the home, Whitmarsh is accused of stealing a ceramic dog off the victim's front porch instead.

All of those charged are innocent until proven guilty in court of law and they will appear in Chenango County Court at a later date.
