NORWICH – A month long investigation into the sales of cocaine in the City of Norwich by Norwich Police Department concluded Wednesday with the arrest of one individual.
Sandy L. Beeching, 37, whose address is listed as homeless, was arrested by NPD Wednesday morning and charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class B felony. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 25 years. In the event the defendant has a prior conviction, the minimum prison sentence could be 10 years.
"The investigation led Norwich Police to request an arrest warrant be issued for Beeching. Beeching was taken into custody on that warrant Wednesday morning at a local business just outside the City of Norwich," said Norwich Police Chief Rodney Marsh.
Beeching was arraigned by Norwich City Court Judge Michael J. Genute following his arrest Wednesday morning, and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Beeching is scheduled to reappear in Norwich City Court on Tuesday, February 6.
Marsh said the arrest was conducted by NPD along with members of the Chenango County Sheriff's Office.
