NORWICH – City of Norwich residents may have caught a strong whiff of natural gas on Tuesday afternoon and evening, as NYSEG inadvertently struck a main gas line on Pleasant Street.

There was no danger to the public, and Department of Public Works Assistant Superintendent George Carnrike said NYSEG had repaired the leak around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.
