Lady Marauders season ends abruptly on road to No. 1 Seed Thousand Islands

CLAYTON – On Friday night in the first round of the sectionals, the Lady Marauders faced the the first-seed Thousand Islands, a team that is now 19-2 on the season and sixth ranked team in New York State after taking the win 71-32.

“[Thousand Islands] played like their state ranking,” said Sherburne-Earlville’s head coach Jeff Barry.

The Lady Vikings held a 22-6 point lead after the first quarter and didn’t show any signs of letting up.

In fact, the home team allowed the Lady Marauders to eclipse double-digits in just one quarter of play.

The third stanza was when S-E’s Tessa Cole (seven) and Sophia Khoury (five) combined to score 12 points.

Cole had one basket scored in the first half to total nine points, a team-high for the Marauders. Khoury finished with eight and Sage Ashton added seven.
