Closings in Chenango County Friday
CHENANGO COUNTY – The school districts in Chenango County have cancelled school for Friday in anticipation of the snowstorm expected to hit Thursday morning. This list will be updated as closings are announced.
“Right now, all schools, including DCMO BOCES, are closed. Some businesses are reportedly either closed already or are anticipating closing by mid-day,” said County Emergency Coordinator Matthew Beckwith.
He said the highway department has been out in force since 3 a.m. on Friday and will continue working throughout the storm.
“We do encourage motorists to use caution tomorrow during the morning commute. Please allow for extra time to make it to your destination. We also encourage people to dress for the weather and make sure your vehicles are clear of any snow or ice that may have developed overnight,” said Beckwith.
Motorists are asked to remove any vehicles that may be disabled or parked along the roadways, so highway crews can effectively plow the roads open.
If you come across downed trees or power lines, Beckwith advises staying away and calling emergency officials.
