Youth Smyrna swimmer delivers at Regional USA Silvers

ALBANY – Swimmer Amon Van Alst, from Smyrna, swam at the Regional USA Silvers Championship held at Renesselear Polytechnic Institute on March 3-4.

Van Alst is an 11 year old who attends Sherburne-Earlville Middle School and competed in the 11-12 year old boys age group at the USA Silvers Short Course Championship.

Among 11-12 year old boys, Van Alst placed second in 50-yard Breaststroke with a time of 41.83 seconds. In that race, there was only a .17 second difference between his time and the first place finisher. Van Alst finished fourth overall with 99 points in the age group.

In addition, Van Alst competed in the 100-yard Individual Medly, 50-yard Freestyle, 100-yard Backstroke, 50-yard Butterfly, 200-yard Freestyle, 100-yard Freestyale, 100-yard Breaststroke, and 50-yard Backstroke. The nine events he sawm in were over the course of the two day meet.
